The Buzz

Nordictrack C 1650 Display

The NordicTrack C 1650 treadmill has always received great reviews from experts as well as customers, as it is very hard to beat given the price tag (Typically under $1400 on sale).  The new redesign has made it even more appealing.

There's really nothing missing here, as you get a real runner's treadmill with a generous sized belt, strong motor, up to a 12% incline, and up to 12 mph speed which is ample for even the most serious runners.

The machine comes with a large amount of workouts designed by a personal trainer, a total of 34 (a lot more than the base C 700 model) and even more available workouts with iFit, a unique program that allows you to track your workouts, run anywhere in the world via Google maps and a host of other great features.  Note that a subscription is required, but it's a relatively small monthly or yearly fee and well worth it in our opinion.

The C 1650 is also web-enabled and iPod compatible, so you can literally do anything you would ever want to do while you work out...surf the web, watch movies, post to your social pages, read a book, listen to music...the possiblities are endless and this makes your workouts much more enjoyable.

It has a very nice 10" full color touch screen.  If you want to save a few hundred you can opt for the C 990 model which has a 7" screen and a slightly less powerful motor.  Otherwise the two treadmills are quite similar.

Some other nice touches: heart rate monitoring built into the handlebars, space saving design for easy storage, an accessory tray, cooling fans and an adjustable tablet holder.

How Does the C 1650 Compare to the Other NordicTrack Treadmills?

The C 1650 is the top model in NordicTrack's C Series, a more affordable lineup than the Commercial and Incline Trainer series.

All of the C Series treadmills (C700, C990, C1650) are jam packed with features and capabilities often reserved for more expensive cardio trainers.  The company has figured out how to give you everything without charging premium prices.

The base C 700 model has a basic LED display,  20" x 55" deck, 2.75 CHP motor, up to 10% incline and 10 mph speed and 20 built in workout programs.

The up-level C 990 improves upon the C 700 with a 7" touch screen display, 20" x 60" deck, 3.0 CHP motor,  up to 12% incline and 12 mph speed and 32 built in workouts.

The top of the line C 1650 takes it a step further with a 10" touch screen display, 3.5 CHP motor and 34 built in workout programs.

So as you can see there's a big jump from the base model to the C990, and a much smaller jump from the C 990 to the C 1650.  We definitely prefer the two advanced models, so it should come down to whether or not you need the stronger motor and larger touch screen...for only an additional $300 we say go for it!

What about the NordicTrack C 1650 vs. the other NordicTrack treadmills? As we mentioned, the Commercial Series and the Incline Trainers are going to be a bit more expensive as they feature more incline, decline, stronger motors and more programming.

If you can spend another $100-$200 definitely look at the Commercial 1750 treadmill, which will add more incline as well as decline to your workout, with better cushioning and wireless heart rate monitoring as well.

NordicTrack C 1650 Review - Bottom Line

Our NordicTrack C 1650 reviews have always been positive.  We love the fact that the company gives you so much and it doesn't break the bank.  Usually when you get all these features (and it doesn't happen often) you're paying $2500 and up.  This is about half that price.

We like the new 10" touch screen and with the tablet holder you don't have to block your workout stats to use your iPad.  Everything is right in front of you and easy to view and access.

It also comes with a very strong warranty not found on other models, so that's a good sign and will give you peace of mind.

All in all, if you're looking for a treadmill under $1500, you can't do much better than the C 1650.  If you want to save a little bit consider the C 990 as well as the C 770.

And, if you can spend a few hundred dollars more, NordicTrack's Commercial 1750 is definitely worth a look.
