The Buzz

UPDATE:  The 790T treadmill has been phased out and is no longer available for sale.  To find a comparable treadmill check out the new model lineup from ProForm on the company site to see which model appeals to you.

The Tech Series Proform 790T treadmill offers a 20" x 55" running deck, a 2.5 CHP motor with a cool-running internal fan to extend the motor’s life, and superior ProTech adjustable deck cushioning. The 790T also features iFit® compatibility (cards are sold separately) for expanding workouts beyond the 16 pre-programmed workouts.

Of the 2010 ProForm line of treadmills, the Tech Series (models 590T, 790T, and 1090T) have decent motors, good cushioning, and are loaded with entertainment features, including an iPod® and MP3 compatible audio port, two 2" speakers, and an integrated entertainment rack. While there are no consumer treadmill reviews on the ProForm 790T yet, we predict it will likely receive decent average to above average feedback from users and industry pros.

What We Say

ProForm has some killer sales on their machines, up to 50% off. When they have a weekly sale on select machines, you can buy the Proform 1050T model ($1,599) for $400 less than the 790T, which is $1,299 MSRP. They are virtually the same machine except that the 1050T has a stronger motor, longer deck, and a few more programs. However, if you cannot find the ProForm 790T treadmill for around $900 or less, then it would be best to take a pass. The 790T just doesn’t offer the value of the current crop of best-selling models offered by Sole, Livestrong, and NordicTrack.
