Play Treadmill Games and Lose a Few Pounds

An ideal way to spend more time exercising is to play treadmill games. You’ll be spending hours doing the enjoyable things you love (playing games) while walking or running to get in shape.

If you are a multi-tasker and like to do two things at once, finding “something to do” on the treadmill is, no doubt, something you’ve already been thinking about.

How Far Can You Go?

Many home exercisers have already found they can incorporate the time they spend playing games while getting in a 3 or 4 mile walk. You have to admit, it beats sitting on the couch for hours, and you’ll lose a few pounds while being entertained with your favorite treadmill games.

There are some limitations, however, as certain games that require you to point a wii remote at the screen may be more difficult to do while jogging. In situations such as using the Nintendo, the accelerometers in the remote measure even the smallest body movement, so it would be an exercise in frustration to even try. But other games are possible while using a treadmill.

If you are a Wii exerciser, you can use fitness-focused treadmill video games such as Walk It Out that use a Wii Remote/Nunchuk controller configuration.

In your profile selection, you create a little person to walk around Rhythm Island where you’ll get your heart rate up while listening to over 120 songs (you can even select and edit the play lists) during your exercise. Before you know it, an hour will have passed and you will have burned 350 to 500 calories while being challenged and engaged.

A Necessary Accessory

Another way to play games or use a laptop is to buy a simple holder attachment such as SurfShelf. It is an ideal holder (it fits 99% of all exercise machine consoles) for playing treadmill games or for watching programs on a laptop or portable DVD player.

If you are cautious about investing in a pricey TV treadmill or a model with an interactive video screen, a $40 SurfShelf lets you pass up those expensive options and attach your laptop securely to your current treadmill.

The shelf’s material is transparent so you can always view your console settings and safely stay in control of the treadmill. With SurfShelf, you no longer have an excuse to avoid exercise.

Put a laptop computer or DVD player on the shelf and get to work, surf the net, watch a movie, or even play video treadmill games all while getting in 30 minutes to an hour of walking or running. You get in shape — and stay that way — and have fun while doing it!
