The ProForm 980 CS treadmill comes with a 3.0 chp motor with a cool-running internal fan to extend the motor’s life. It runs quiet and vibration-free for a smooth ride. The ProStride™ adjustable cushioning with 5 different settings reduces impact on the joints by up to 28%. Other features include a compatible music port for Pod®, built-in handlebar sensors for heart rate monitoring, and one-touch buttons for speed and incline changes.

Treadmill reviews have remarked on the impressive features of the ProForm 980 CS which has a large 350-lb weight capacity, a sturdy deck that measure 20" x 60", and a nice selection of pre-programmed workouts. It also features a cool Workout Intensity Meter on the dash that alerts you when you need to exercise harder or slow down to meet your goals. This model comes with the iFit® Workout Card slot, and not the iFit Live™ internet access, so be aware if that is something you are looking for specifically. The ProForm 980 CS is easy to assemble out of the box, and a breeze to operate. The weak parts/labor warranty is an issue so you will have to buy the extended warranty if you choose this machine.

What We Say

The ProForm 980 CS treadmill has been offered for special internet pricing as low as $949, which is 40% off its MSRP of $1,599. At that price, it is a decent buy considering the full size tread belt, quick incline/speed controls, and all the extras. However, if the 980 sells for $1199 or higher, it is not the best treadmill in that price range. Despite its many pluses, ProForm offers better deals such as the $1999 Proform Power 995 (3.5 chp motor) when it goes on sale for $999.
