The Horizon Evolve SG Treadmill – Compact Machine Fits Under Bed

Got a small workout space? The Horizon Evolve SG treadmill is the first ultra compact design that really does fold up to 10" tall, which is small enough to push under a bed or couch, store upright in a closet, behind a door at work, maybe even take it with you in the RV. This is an ideal machine for people who need an inexpensive and lightweight walker they can stow away.

The Buzz

UPDATE:  The Evolve SG has been phased out.  Check out the very popular Horizon T101 entry-level treadmill for a good starter machine.

Trainers and experts point out all the good qualities of the Horizon Evolve SG such as its compact folded footprint, its 6 mph top speed, quiet operation, and overall value compared to similarly priced treadmills. Its drawbacks are obvious in terms of its 45" belt, small motor and 90-day warranty.

However, if you have limited space and need a compact treadmill that weighs only 99 lbs, the Horizon Evolve SG is well suited for a single user who does not weigh over 200 lbs and needs to use it only about 30 minutes per day.

Owners like this basic no-frills model, yet the Horizon Evolve SG is attractive enough to look rather high tech. With nothing to assemble, you simply set it up right out of the box and start using it.

There are two tiny speakers on the dash and you can plug in an MP3 if you have an adapter. It also has a thumb sensor for heart rate monitoring although the accuracy of those devices is usually suspect. Overall, users who take the time to pen Horizon treadmill reviews have expressed surprise and delight at the quality of this model.

What We Say

We are impressed with the attractive design and compactness of this $599 budget model. The cushioning is nothing to write home about but that is something easily overcome if you wear good sneakers while using it.

Keep in mind that the Horizon Evolve SG is not a model designed for running or even light jogging; Horizon offers several more rugged treadmills at this price, and those will stand up to more punishing use than this one.

However, many casual walkers will find that the Horizon Evolve SG treadmill is exactly what they are looking for.
