The Cybex LCX 425T Treadmill – Tough Enough for Commercial Use

The stylish and custom-built Cybex LCX 425T treadmill is the equivalent of a BMW in the treadmill world. It is tough enough for light commercial use in hotels or corporate gyms, and will look classy in your home.

The Machine

On the split-level console, the 7x15 matrix graphic display shows profile, distance, calories, METs, pace, and heart rate. The lower display shows time, speed, and incline. Programs include HR Control, Speed Intervals 1 & 2, Hill Interval, Rolling Hills, Pikes Peak, Weight Loss, and Cardio.

The specs on the Cybex LCX 425T treadmill include:

You won’t be able to wander into a specialty fitness store and kick the tires on a Cybex LCX 425T treadmill; they are custom built. Once you place your order and pick your frame color, it takes approximately 10 days to assemble it in the factory in Owatonna, Minnesota, before it is shipped.

The Buzz

UPDATE:  The 425T is no longer available.  Check out the new Cybex treadmill lineup on their site.

If you look closely at the picture on this page, you will see that the Cybex LCX 425T has a unique solid steel dual frame for vibration-free workouts.

The Intelligent Suspension³ technology allows the front of the deck surface to minimize the foot strike impact at the heel, with a stable surface at the rear for the toe-off, exactly matching the body mechanics of a runner’s stride.

The 3 HP Continuous Duty DC Motor uses pulse width modulation(PWM) in the controller to regulate constant speed control and to maximize efficient power consumption. It runs cool, smooth, and very quiet. The double-sided deck can be rotated and flipped, extending its life four-fold.

Cybex merged with Trotter in 1997 so occasionally these are referred to as Cybex Trotter machines. What ever you call them, they are among the best cardio machines you can buy for in-home use.

Treadmill reviews give the LCX 425T high marks for everything including power, noise level, cushioning, programs, appearance, quality, value, and warranty. It has no negative issues, except perhaps the price.

What We Say

The Cybex LCX 425T is the best value of all Cybex treadmills even though it is the least expensive at $3900 - $4,495, and yet the quality is comparable to more expensive commercial models made by Star Trac, Matrix, Landice, and Life Fitness.

If you want to buy a heavy-duty treadmill that will last for years, the Cybex LCX 425T treadmill is a sound choice. However, the price tag may be too rich for your needs (remember it is a light commercial model designed to used 6 to 8 hours every day).

If you want a less expensive alternative, you can save $600 - $1100 with a Lifespan Pro5 treadmill at $3,300 that has a first rate 3.0 hp variable speed AC motor.
