The Buzz

AFG 3.1AT Display

The AFG 3.1 AT treadmill features a 500-lb thrust incline motor to lift the deck up to 15% for a more powerful workout. The rest of the specs include a powerful 2.75 hp continuous duty motor, a 1.6 mm belt, the exclusive Active Response™ Cushioning system, and dual hydraulic shocks in the folding design mechanism to easily lift or lower the deck.

The updated redesign of the console and the side arms is a huge improvement over the 3.0 AT. It even looks more durable and more comfortable than the old model.

These new ATs now resemble the Livestrongs and Horizons which are also owned by Johnson Fitness.

The warranty that covers the motor, parts, and labor is very good for a machine at such a reasonable price. The AFG 3.1 AT also rates well in user reviews for its low noise level, for its features such as the built-in speaker system and the iPod input jack, the sturdy 253-pound frame, as well as reliability, ease of use, and attractive design.

While it is not a rugged runner’s treadmill, it a good buy for the average walker.

What We Say

There is almost no downside to the AFG 3.1 AT treadmill which strongly resembles its cousin, the Livestrong 10.0T (also at $999).

The cosmetics are different but otherwise, these two treadmills share many of the same components and features.

Overall, this is an exceptional treadmill and one that should be on your list if you are hoping to keep your treadmill purchase under $1000. You get a lot more than you expect for the very competitive price.
